How to Choose Size & Force
Measure length: With the cover open, measure hinge-to-mount distance; choose an extended length ≈ 60–70% of the open arc so the cover reaches full open without overextension.
Estimate force (rule of thumb):
Light ABS/aluminum cover: 200–300N per strut
Medium composite: 300–500N per strut
Heavy single-piece fiberglass: 500–600N per strut
Using two struts balances the load and reduces hinge stress.
Mounting angle: Install rod-down in the closed position to keep the internal seal lubricated and extend service life.
